Geist assembly guide

Geist's assembly follows a few principles which dictate the design and vice versa.

First off it's visibly screwless in order to emphasize its monolithic aesthetics.

Another feature is the optional screwless assembly which was designed in order to quickly test builds before committing to a final build.

If you opt for a screwless assembly simply follow the guide but skip all M2.5 and M3 screws.

Don't worry - the assembly is held together by the silicon brackets.

Enjoy the process.

1.

With the Geist case laying upside down, remove the 3 slotted plastic security screws.

2.

Take off the housing then take off the bottom case.

3.

Stick the grey adhesive Poron gaskets to the pockets of the top case.

4.

Stick the four rectangular shaped gaskets on the bottom case.

Insert the daughterboard Poron sheet in the upper left corner of the bottom case.

Insert the black Poron sheet into the big pocket of the bottom case.

Even if you prefer not to use plate foams it's very much recommended to use this case Poron sheet to protect the surface of the bottom case against the impact of the switch pins.

5.

Link the rotary encoder daughterboard with the main PCB by connecting the ribbon cable to both connectors.

Make sure the blue of the cable ends is facing you. Only then Geist will power up.

Be gentle with the locks of the connectors and don't accidentally pull on the daughterboard.

6.

Put the unity of PCB/plate/switches onto the bottom case.

The plate foam between plate and PCB is optional as well as the PE sheet on the PCB.

7.

Fasten the daughterboard to the bottom case with the five M2 screws.

8.

Assemble the top case on the bottom case. You should feel how it subtly clicks in and aligns itself.

9.

Insert the eight silicon brackets - four at the front and four at the back. The triangle icon should be at the top.

Push the brackets deep into the pockets until it's even with the case.

10.

Flip the case upside down and fasten the bottom case to the top case with the seven M2.5 screws.

11.

Attach the housing on the bottom case and make sure it's horizontally straight before you push it down to press-fit it to the case.

You should feel when the housing gently clicks-in to the silicon brackets.

12.

Screw in a M2.5 at the blocker notch of the housing. Then attach the silicon feet to the bottom case.

13.

Flip the Halfmoon on its back and slide the board into the slot of the Halfmoon.

14.

Flip open the silicon feet on the Halfmoon's bottom and fasten it to the case with the two M3.

Then push the feet back in again.

15.

Press-fit the knob to the rotary encoder's stem. Slide the accent blocker into the housing's notch.
